StockTinder uses rule-based algorithms and, for language features, a third-party AI model. This page explains which features use which technology, what data they use, and their limitations.
AI-Powered Features
AI Agent Chat
On the AI Agent screen you can type questions and instructions to the Agent. Your message, recent messages from the same conversation, and the account or market data the Agent looks up to answer (for example quotes, your paper portfolio, watch tasks or proposals) are sent to a third-party AI model provider to generate the reply.
Voice Agent (where available)
On supported web browsers, you can talk to the Agent. When you tap the microphone, your browser asks for microphone permission and your voice is streamed directly to a third-party AI model provider for real-time speech recognition and spoken replies. Voice stops when you tap stop or leave the screen.
Agent Commands, Watch Tasks & Trade Proposals
The Agent can turn plain-language instructions into watch tasks and paper-trade proposals. A third-party AI model interprets the wording; StockTinder's own server code validates every value. The Agent cannot execute a trade: proposals wait for you to review and approve them, and only then does StockTinder's server place the paper trade.
Trading Mandates & Autonomous Paper Trading (where available)
Where enabled for your account, you can authorize the Agent to paper trade within limits you set (capital, per-position size, number of positions, daily loss, expiry). The Agent can draft a mandate but cannot turn it on; only you can enable it. Every automatic entry must pass a deterministic, rule-based Risk Engine. STOP AUTOTRADING immediately blocks new automatic entries. All of this is simulated paper trading with virtual money.
AI Chart Analyzer
Support and resistance levels, patterns, trend, momentum and the confidence score are calculated by StockTinder's deterministic technical engine from the exact chart candles you see. A third-party AI model then writes a plain-language explanation of those results. StockTinder checks the explanation and rejects it if it contains a price the engine did not produce. Ask AI on this screen sends your question together with the chart's symbol, timeframe and analysis.
Algorithmic Stock Signals & Market Scanner
Rule-based strategy signals computed from market data and technical indicators such as RSI, MACD, moving averages, price action, and volume. The market scanner filters stocks by liquidity, volatility, trend and signal strength using versioned rules. Signal strength ranks setups; it is not a probability of profit. These do not use a generative AI model.
Options Signals, Strategies & AI Options Analyst
Options signals, contract quality, risk levels, strategy suggestions, payoffs, breakevens, greeks totals and Signal/Setup Confidence are calculated by StockTinder's deterministic engines from Intrinio data — never by an AI model. When you tap Ask AI on an options screen, the contract, signal, strategy or position you are viewing (and numbers StockTinder computed, such as a scenario table) is sent to a third-party AI model, which only explains those numbers. Signal Confidence measures indicator agreement, not the probability of profit. Options signals keep working when the AI is unavailable.
Algorithmic News Summaries
Stock-specific summaries assembled from Intrinio news headlines and article text using deterministic extraction and keyword-based tone scoring. These stories are not sent to a third-party generative AI model.
Stock AI Chat & Market Commentary
The per-stock AI chat and in-app market commentary use a rule-based intent and indicator engine that turns current market data into educational responses. They are not a general-purpose large language model and may misunderstand a question or omit relevant context.
Personalized Discovery & Community Ranking
Heuristic ranking based on interactions such as stock swipes, watchlist actions, followed authors, post engagement, freshness, and ticker affinity. The recommendation profile is stored locally on your device and includes an exploration component to avoid showing only familiar items.
Auto-Pilot Bots
Rule-based strategies can scan market data and, when you enable Auto-Pilot, place simulated paper trades subject to configured risk controls. Auto-Pilot does not place real-money brokerage orders.
Known Limitations
AI is powerful but imperfect. You should be aware of the following limitations:
AI models can misunderstand requests, give incomplete or incorrect answers, or sound more certain than they should — review every proposal before approving it
Voice recognition can mishear tickers, prices, and numbers; check the transcript and the proposal details
Signals, chart levels, patterns and automated strategies can be wrong and do not predict the future
Confidence and signal-strength scores measure how much indicators agree; they are not probabilities of profit
Market/news data can be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, or change rapidly; analyses are tied to the chart data at the time they were run
Personalized ranking reflects past interactions and may not match your current interests
Backtests and paper-trading results do not guarantee future or real-money performance
Automated analysis does not know your complete financial situation, objectives, or constraints
How These Features Are Built
StockTinder combines two kinds of technology. Deterministic code — technical-indicator rules, the market scanner, the chart analysis engine, the Risk Engine and heuristic ranking — produces signals, levels, scores and trading decisions. A third-party AI model provider is used only for language: understanding what you type or say, answering in conversation, and explaining results. The AI model is never the final authority over a trade; StockTinder's server code validates and executes every paper order.
Data Sent to the AI Provider
Agent chat sends your messages, recent conversation turns, and the data the Agent retrieves to answer. Voice streams your microphone audio during an active voice session. Agent commands send the instruction you typed. The Chart Analyzer sends the chart's symbol, timeframe and engine results (not your account data), and Ask AI adds your question. StockTinder accesses the AI provider through short-lived, server-issued credentials; the provider processes this data to generate responses under its own terms. Private direct messages are never sent to the AI provider.
What StockTinder Stores
StockTinder does not store voice recordings or voice transcripts, and does not store the text of Agent chat conversations on its servers; recent Agent text conversation history may be stored locally on your device so you can resume it and clear it from the Agent interface. StockTinder stores the results you create — watch tasks, trade proposals, mandates, paper trades — plus an audit log of mandate changes, risk decisions, proposals, orders and voice-session starts (with timestamps and a fingerprint of the details) so automated activity can be reviewed. For Agent commands, the interpreted plan and the command length are logged, not the command text.
Market Data
Stock, ETF, options, fundamentals and news data are provided by Intrinio (stock prices from Intrinio EquitiesEdge, a real-time modeled price feed rather than the consolidated exchange tape; option values from Intrinio OptionsEdge synthetic fair-market values and end-of-day data). Crypto prices come from Kraken public market data, Treasury yields from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and congressional trades from official U.S. House Clerk and Senate disclosure filings. Personalized discovery uses your in-app interactions such as swipes, watchlist actions, followed authors, and engagement signals. The recommendation-weight profile is stored locally on your device.
Quality & Reporting
Automated outputs are tested as part of product development, but StockTinder does not guarantee that every generated signal, summary, ranking, explanation or chat response is manually reviewed. If you find an error or harmful content, use the available reporting/support tools.
Signal Freshness
Server AI scores and scanner shortlists are refreshed on a schedule, and chart analyses are computed from the chart data loaded at the time. When you change the chart, a previous analysis is marked as needing a refresh rather than shown against different data. Data-provider delays, market closures, network failures, and scheduled-job delays can still make an output stale.
Your Controls
AI Agent chat, voice, chart analysis and Ask AI only run when you use them. Voice requires your microphone permission and can be revoked in your browser. Autonomous paper trading stays off until you enable a mandate, and STOP AUTOTRADING (or asking the Agent to stop) blocks new automatic entries immediately; existing stop-losses stay in place. You can clear learned stock and Community interests from Settings.
